State Street Adapting to Keep Us Safe
State Street is the heart of Santa Barbara, offering tons of restaurants, activities, and shopping stores to choose from. Since COVID-19 began, State Street has had to make some changes to ensure both fun and safety when visiting.
Now, State Street is being redesigned to better fit the new norms in society, including practicing social distancing and wearing masks to stop the spread of COVID-19. Not only is this good for consumers, but business owners can get back on their feet and serve the community without worrying about having to close their doors.
State Street has already created a nine-block pedestrian promenade to comply with COVID-19 regulations but this new project is much larger. The American Institute of Architects have created a task force of 173 architects to redesign State Street and provide a more permanent solution. This will take weeks to finish but the finished product will be a redesigned State Street that can flourish while keeping everyone safe.
